On the afternoon of 5 February 2017 a Community Forum was held at the Sellicks Beach Community Hall. The Forum was held to inform about and promote to the Community the environmental and ecological values of the Aldinga Washpool wetland. Some 109 people attended the Forum on a rather cold and windy Sunday afternoon.
Following a Welcome to Country by Kaurna elder Georgina Williams, a number of guest speakers provided presentations detailing the flora, fauna and ecological functions of the wetland. These were followed by updates from local and state government agencies on the current status of the tenure and management of the Washpool. The latter updates included discussion on the Washpool's possible incorporation into a wider conservation zone linked to the Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park.

In particular our thanks to Peter Laffan, convenor of the Aldinga Washpool and Silver Sands Heritage group, for shouldering much of the organisational load, inclusive of getting such an impressive array of speakers for the day!
